Animal Aid Unlimited responded to a distress call to rescue an aging dog that was trapped in a drain. The poor creature had fallen into the sewer while trying to ease its pain and was covered in maggots due to a large wound.
The elderly dog had lost most of his teeth, was suffering from arthritis, and had a deep cut on his back. He was in extreme pain, and due to his frailty, he had to be extracted from the drain very carefully before being taken to the veterinary clinic for treatment. The veterinarians provided him with painkillers and an IV to deal with the maggot infestation.
The sight of the dog chowing down on his food and his wound being fully recovered within a short span of weeks was a huge source of comfort for them. It’s evident that had they not lent a helping hand, he wouldn’t have survived for long.
