Manchester City and Arsenal players, who battled till the final day of the previous season, were hopeful of clinching some of the sport’s top individual accolades. The illustrious event was held at the Opera House theatre in Manchester, with Alex Scott and Jules Breach as the hosts. Erling Haaland, who impressed in his debut season and continued his success at Etihad, was a strong contender for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award. The Norwegian striker looked sharp in a black suit and was accompanied by his partner, footballer Isabel Haugseng Johansen, on the star-studded red carpet.

The Norwegian player was part of the starting lineup alongside four of his Arsenal teammates, including Declan Rice. However, Haaland lost out on the award to Phil Foden, his fellow city team-mate, who played a key role in helping the team secure their fourth consecutive top-flight title victory. Foden’s achievement puts him in an exclusive category of players who have won the top award after previously being named Young Player of the Year for two consecutive seasons. This recognition adds to Foden’s exceptional performances, as he was also named Premier League Player of the Season and received the Football Writers’ Association’s Footballer of the Year award. The list of nominees for the award also included Rodri, Martin Odegaard, Cole Palmer, and Ollie Watkins. Palmer, who had an impressive season with Chelsea, scoring 22 goals and providing 11 assists, was awarded the PFA Young Player of the Year. Although Arsenal narrowly missed out on winning the Premier League title after two decades, Mikel Arteta’s team had a strong presence in the PFA Team of the Year. David Raya, William Saliba, Gabriel, Declan Rice, and Arsenal’s captain Martin Odegaard were all included in the lineup. Joining them were City players Kyle Walker, Rodri, Foden, and Haaland, along with Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Aston Villa’s Watkins, completing the team.
