For a number of years, Paul Robertson has been working as a long-distance truck driver. He finds his job fulfilling, but the loneliness that comes with driving solo for extended periods of time can be overwhelming. Thankfully, Paul had a faithful feline friend named Howie who was his constant companion during his travels. However, when Howie passed away in 2017, Paul was left feeling devastated and alone.
Determined to find a new furry friend to accompany him, Paul decided to visit an animal shelter. There, he met Percy, a ginger cat with scars, a torn ear, and a missing tooth. Upon meeting Percy, Paul knew instantly that he was the perfect companion to join him on his journeys.
Percy had a rough start to life, living as a stray until he was rescued. Despite his difficult past, he maintained a gentle and loving demeanor. When Paul adopted him, the two quickly formed a strong bond. As Paul traveled long distances, Percy became his constant companion, riding on a specially designed platform that allowed him to look out the window. According to Paul’s Facebook post, Percy loves nothing more than curling up on his lap, climbing up his chest, and rubbing cheeks. He’s playful, purrs often, and enjoys his meals and naps just like any other cat.
Paul, who is also a skilled photographer, loved taking snapshots of his beloved cat, Percy, and would often share these charming pictures on his Facebook page. Due to these delightful photos, Percy amassed a significant online following. In February of 2017, Paul encountered one of the most frightening moments of his life while they were parked at a truck stop in Ohio. When Paul woke up in the morning, he noticed that the passenger window was down, and Percy was nowhere to be found. Although Percy had gone missing on occasion, typically when a bird caught his attention, this time he did not respond to Paul’s calls, nor did he appear when Paul searched the surrounding area. To exacerbate the situation, the weather forecast predicted an approaching storm for that day.
Paul had lost all hope and turned to social media to announce that his cat, Percy, had gone missing. Many people offered their help in finding the lost cat, but unfortunately, Paul couldn’t wait for him due to his job as a commercial truck driver. He had commitments to deliver his cargo on time. Sadly, he continued his route with a heavy heart, feeling like he had left his feline companion behind.
However, after completing two deliveries and driving a total of 400 miles, Paul saw a miracle happen. He spotted Percy, his beloved cat, coming out from under his truck, covered in oil.
The feline appeared to be famished and exhausted, but thankfully he was unharmed. After that incident, Paul took special care to keep a close eye on him. Now, they have been inseparable for three years, and their friendship has only grown stronger.
Paul shared, “The other day, I caught myself laughing at one of Percy’s playful antics and realized that while it’s nice to live alone and have things your way, I wouldn’t be laughing like this if I didn’t have him by my side. Percy brings immense joy to my spirit and soul.”
Their companionship is truly heartwarming, and we’re elated that they found each other. Undoubtedly, having a furry friend by your side makes life all the more enjoyable.
