Around six weeks back, a couple living in Las Vegas stumbled upon a kitten without a mother in their backyard. They were worried and reached out to a local animal rescuer named Patricia Lika for help, who quickly came to their aid. However, when Patricia arrived, she was amazed to find not one but two kittens at the scene. It was later discovered that the tortoise kept by the couple for rescue purposes had woken up from hibernation and brought one of the kittens with it.
At first, the homeowners had no clue that the tortoise’s burrow was hiding a surprise – newborn kittens! After reviewing the camera footage, they realized that the mother cat hadn’t been seen for three days, and it was likely she had given birth to the kittens in the burrow. The burrow proved to be a secure haven for her babies until she didn’t come back. When the homeowners found the first kitten, they were surprised, but when the tortoise pushed out another one, they were completely stunned!
Regrettably, there was a third feline residing in the burrow, which was inaccessible to them. The burrow was approximately five feet deep and an additional foot wide, creating a sanctuary for the sneaky kitten. They cleverly placed a baby monitor inside the burrow so that they could closely observe its activity. As soon as the kitten appeared on the screen, they sprang into action. “It moved just enough for us to use a pole to grab it.”
The group kept a watchful eye on the cameras, hoping the mother cat would come back for her kittens. However, their expectations were not met as she never showed up. Consequently, the kittens, Marshmallow, Bisquick, and Stormtrooper, had to rely on Patricia for shelter. Thanks to her care and nourishment, they showed significant improvement in their health and even exhibited signs of happiness by kneading on a cozy blanket.
