Almost a year ago, a group from California rescued a tiny kitten with a congenital defect. The kitten’s health was always up and down, and there was no guarantee that she would survive. However, despite the odds, Bonsai persevered. What has happened to her since then?
Back in March 2022, we shared the touching and inspiring story of Bonsai, a young female kitten who was in dire need of care. Jacqueline “DeAmor” Santiago, the founder of Friends for Life Rescue Network in Los Angeles, had rescued her the previous month. Bonsai was born with a cleft lip and was significantly underweight for her age, which made her survival uncertain.
Fortunately, Jacqueline and her team of volunteers were dedicated to nursing Bonsai back to health. They provided her with round-the-clock care, but it wasn’t an easy journey. Bonsai’s health fluctuated, and there were moments when she seemed to be getting better. However, there were also times when her health deteriorated, and she had to be placed in intensive care.
One particularly alarming period occurred when Bonsai stopped feeding and started vomiting frequently. Despite these challenges, Bonsai remained resilient, and her caretakers persevered in their efforts to save her. Thanks to their tireless dedication and Bonsai’s fighting spirit, she survived her difficult start to life.
As time went on, the attention and care given to the tiny cat had a remarkable effect on her wellbeing. With each passing day, Bonsai’s condition improved, and her charming personality began to shine through. She grew stronger and more inquisitive, displaying an affectionate and playful nature that was impossible to resist. Her long and contented purring sessions were a testament to her newfound happiness and wellbeing.
Finally, the moment everyone had been waiting for had arrived. With her cleft lip corrected and her body finally healthy and robust, the little feline was ready to find her forever home. In the meantime, she had formed a special bond with another cat from the shelter, a sweet companion named Waverly.
Great news for all the fans who have been following the Bonsai story! In September, Friends for Life Rescue Network announced that Bonsai has finally been adopted by a loving couple. They have also adopted another cat named Waverly, and they are now both part of a happy family.
Four months after the adoption, the association posted an update on Facebook saying that Bonsai and Waverly are doing great. The post includes two beautiful photos of the cats, who have grown into tall and majestic creatures.
